The C1 control valve from Valfonta is a single seat regulating unit with a "Top Entry" design, operated by a multi-spring pneumatic diaphragm actuator. It has been designed for precise control of gases, steam and liquids in industrial processes, offering reliable service for both modulating control and ON/OFF applications.
Its main advantage lies in its modular concept: it allows for multiple combinations of plugs (linear, equal percentage), bonnet types (standard, finned, extended, or with bellow) and materials, adapting to extreme conditions of temperature and pressure. The globe-type body design ensures optimal fluid hydrodynamics, while the guided plug ensures high operational stability even at high differential pressures.
-
Dimensional Range: From DN15 up to DN100 (DN125 and DN150 on request).
-
Nominal Pressure:
-
PN25: Ductile Iron (GJS-400) and Bronze (RG-10).
-
PN40: Carbon Steel (WCB) and Stainless Steel (CF8M/CF3M).
-
-
Control Types (Flow Characteristic): Plugs available with Equal Percentage, Linear, or quick opening (ON/OFF) curve.
-
Bonnets and Temperature: Adaptable according to process:
-
Standard: -5 °C to +200 °C.
-
Finned (High Temperature): For fluids > 200 °C.
-
Extended (Cryogenic): For fluids < -5 °C.
-
Sealing Bellow: For thermal or hazardous fluids (up to 350 °C).
-
-
Shut-off Class: Class IV (metal-to-metal seat) or Class VI (tight sealing with PTFE+Graphite seat).
-
Actuator: Diaphragm pneumatic (reinforced EPDM), field reversible, with air signal up to 4 barg.
The C1 valve regulates the flow by modifying the plug position in response to a pneumatic control signal acting on the actuator diaphragm:
-
Modulation: The air signal presses the diaphragm, overcoming the force of the springs and moving the stem to open or close the valve according to process requirements.
-
Safety (Fail-Safe): The valve has a safety position in the event of air or electrical signal failure:
-
Normally Closed (NC): In the event of air failure, the springs automatically close the valve.
-
Normally Open (NO): In the event of air failure, the springs automatically open the valve.
-
To ensure control accuracy and actuator lifespan:
-
Installation Position: It is recommended to install preferably in horizontal piping with the actuator in an upright vertical position.
-
Straight Sections: To avoid turbulence affecting the control, it is advised to leave a straight run free from obstacles of 6 x DN before and after the valve.
-
Bypass: It is recommended to install isolation valves and a manual bypass to facilitate maintenance work without stopping the process.
-
Instrument Air: The air connection to the actuator is 1/4" BSP. The supplied air must be dry, filtered and oil-free, with a maximum pressure of 4 barg.
-
Filters: It is vital to install a "Y" filter upstream to protect the plug and seat from damage by solid particles.
