Valfonta's PRV53 excess pressure valve is a self-regulating device designed to keep the main line pressure stable, relieving the excess flow when the set point is exceeded. It is a compact, direct-acting, piston-balanced solution, ideal for pump bypass circuits and line protection.
Its main advantage is its all stainless steel AISI 316L construction (body, internals and cap), which makes it suitable for corrosive environments, sanitary applications and a wide variety of industrial fluids (liquids, compressed air, nitrogen, fuel oil and neutral gases). Thanks to its optimized internal design, it is maintenance-free and can be installed in any position, facilitating its integration in confined spaces or complex skids.

The PRV53 valve operates on the direct acting principle. The valve remains closed by spring force as long as the inlet pressure is below the set point.
-
Sensing: Fluid pressure at the inlet acts directly on the piston and plug.
-
Proportional Opening: When the inlet pressure exceeds the force of the set spring, the obturator moves, opening the fluid passage. The opening is proportional to the excess pressure, allowing a controlled relief.
-
Stabilization: By releasing excess fluid to the return or atmosphere, the pressure in the main line stabilizes. Once the pressure drops below the set point, the valve closes tightly.
This model offers great installation flexibility:
-
Mounting Position: Unlike other models, the PRV53 can be installed in any position (horizontal, vertical or inclined) without affecting its performance.
-
Filtration: It is strongly recommended to install a strainer filter at the inlet to protect the internals from impurities and ensure watertightness.
-
Location: To achieve the best regulation, it is advisable to leave a minimum distance of 0.5 to 1 meter between the valve and the pressure source or shut-off valve.
-
Adjustment: Adjustment is made by means of the upper screw (located under the protective cap).
Setting note: Compressing the spring by turning the screw increases the force required to open, thus increasing the setting pressure. Decompressing the spring reduces the set pressure.
