The PRV53 pressure relief valve by Valfonta is a self-regulating device designed to keep the main line pressure stable by relieving surplus flow when the setpoint value is exceeded. It is a compact, direct-acting and piston-balanced solution, ideal for pump bypass circuits and line protection.
Its main advantage is its fully AISI 316L Stainless Steel construction (body, internals and cap), making it suitable for corrosive environments, sanitary applications and a wide variety of industrial fluids (liquids, compressed air, nitrogen, fuel-oil and neutral gases). Thanks to its optimized internal design, it requires no maintenance and allows installation in any position, making it easy to integrate in tight spaces or complex skids.

The PRV53 valve operates on the principle of direct action. The valve remains closed due to spring force as long as inlet pressure is below the set point.
-
Detection: The fluid pressure at the inlet acts directly on the piston and the plug.
-
Proportional Opening: When inlet pressure exceeds the calibrated spring force, the plug moves to open the fluid passage. The opening is proportional to the excess pressure, allowing controlled relief.
-
Stabilization: By releasing the excess fluid into the return or atmosphere, the main line pressure is stabilized. Once pressure drops below the setpoint, the valve closes tightly.
This model offers great installation flexibility:
-
Installation Position: Unlike other models, the PRV53 can be installed in any position (horizontal, vertical or inclined) without affecting its performance.
-
Filtration: It is highly recommended to install a strainer filter at the inlet to protect the internals from impurities and ensure tightness.
-
Location: For optimal regulation, it is advised to leave a minimum distance of 0.5 to 1 meter between the valve and the pressure source or shut-off valve.
-
Adjustment: Regulation is performed using the top screw (located under the protection cap).
Adjustment note: Compressing the spring by turning the screw increases the force required to open, thus increases the set pressure. Loosening the spring reduces the set pressure.
