Overpressure valves
General characteristics and particularities
The overpressure valves are components that can be found in all types of installations, whether industrial, commercial, or domestic; they have been designed to control the pressure of a fluid, being able to increase or decrease it depending on what is convenient for the system.
On the other hand, when the pressure of said fluid exceeds the pre-established level, this valve is responsible for relieving it, thus preventing any accident or breakdown from occurring.
At Valfonta, we design and manufacture custom overpressure valves; we also have an extensive catalog of models and a long and extensive experience, which turns out to be the greatest guarantee for each of our clients.
Some of the overpressure valves that we have designed from Valfonta
Below, we will show the characteristics and some differences of our most used and common overpressure valves. We will compare three models: PRV54, PRV55 and S1.
PRV54 Model
This is a self-operated pressure valve designed to maintain the pressure of a line or system at a stable and constant value. It is very easy to adjust and is characterized by the simplicity of all its components.
It has an inlet pressure of 16 barg and a temperature range that oscillates between -30º and 210 °C, being able to work with steam, oil, compressed air, fuel-oil, water, nitrogen, neutral gases…; it can be installed in any position, it is very easy to adjust and does not need any maintenance.
Made of stainless steel and bronze, we usually install it in chemical laboratory facilities, sanitary plants, compressed air, sprinkler systems, fuel-oil, steam, heat exchangers, steam plants, stills, chemical laboratories, cylinders and vulcanized, dry cleaners, laundries…

PRV55 Model
This is also a self-operated and fully balanced overpressure valve that works through the principle of direct action; its function is to keep the pressure value required or requested by the system stable at all times.
It is very easy to adjust and does not require maintenance tasks. Its maximum inlet pressure is 16 barg and supports a temperature range that oscillates between -10º and 180ºC, its installation being very common in the same systems and installations as the previous valve, as it has been designed to work with steam, neutral gases, fuel-oil, nitrogen…
Model S1
In this case, we are looking at a self-operated overpressure valve that is ideal for working with steam, compressed air, gases and non-hazardous liquids.
The stem is sealed by the double-layer bellows and the material with which it has been manufactured is 316 Ti stainless steel, A216 WCB carbon steel and A351 CF3M stainless steel.
On the other hand, it has an anti-rotation system designed to prevent any damage to the bellows and the diaphragm is reinforced with an intermediate coating.
Finally, its regulation range oscillates between 0.5º and 15 barg with different actuators; it opens when the upstream pressure increases.
