280 liquid heater

In-line mountingValfonta 280 liquid heater, flanged steam injector for pipelines

Steam jet heater that heats liquids flowing through pipes. The steam exits through small angled holes in the nozzle and mixes evenly with the liquid, which also gains pressure at the outlet.

What the 280 heater is used for

The 280 is Valfonta’s steam injector for liquids in pipelines. The steam passes through small angled holes in the nozzle and forms jets that drive the liquid toward a low-pressure zone and create turbulence: this way, steam and liquid mix evenly and the temperature rises.

In addition to heating, the 280 raises the pressure of the liquid at the outlet. If what you need is to heat the contents of a tank, see the 260 injector. Learn more in our article on the steam injector.

How the 280 heater works

  1. Steam jets. The injected steam passes through small angled holes in the nozzle, which turn it into jets.
  2. Low pressure and turbulence. The jets drive the liquid toward a low-pressure zone and create turbulence.
  3. Mixing. Liquid and steam mix evenly and the liquid temperature rises.
  4. Outlet. The liquid leaves hotter and at a higher pressure than at the inlet.

Frequently asked questions about the 280 heater

What is the difference between the 280 heater and a tank injector?

The 280 heats the liquid as it flows through a pipe. The 260 injector heats the contents of a tank and recirculates them.

What flow rate can it heat?

From 1,500 to 30,000 l/h of mixture, depending on size. These values were calculated with saturated steam at 4 bar and liquid at 1 bar at the inlet.

What temperature does the liquid reach?

Under the datasheet test conditions (saturated steam at 4 bar and liquid at 1 bar), the liquid goes from 15 °C to between 65 and 75 °C.

Does it raise the liquid pressure?

Yes. In addition to heating, the 280 raises the outlet pressure of the liquid.

What materials is it available in?

The body is available in A216 WCB carbon steel or A351 CF3M stainless steel. The nozzle, in RG10 bronze (standard), A351 CF3M stainless steel, or Monel.
